I have always had a fascination with the natural world, mountains, rivers, desert…. and trees. Trees are the largest and oldest living things on the planet. The product of trees sustains life; oxygen, fruit, nuts, shelter, and wood. Trees come in an endless variety and no two are exactly the same. Their life is written in wood and these life experiences give the wood we work with character and variety. A healed injury, a fork in the tree, a broken branch, an insect attack or disease; how the tree was harvested, how long it lay on the ground all play a role in how the wood will look and how it will work in the shop.
I enjoy creating objects that showcase the amazing diversity and beauty of natural wood; how can I do better than nature? I hope people can enjoy my work because the beauty of the wood itself comes through to them.
Of course, we use sustainably harvested product. Some of our pieces are made from locally obtained wood. When the land is cared for trees are the ultimate renewable resource.
